Distribution

While the primary purpose of our weekly distribution is the culmination of seeding, cultivating, and nurturing the crops for harvest and selection by our members to take home and eat—it is also a way to connect each week to the farm. At distribution, you will find work-hours sign-up sheets, farmer’s notes, event postings, work hour reports, and other important information, as well u-pick opportunities in the field. If you have the luxury, feel free to linger.
DISTRIBUTION PICK-UP
The distribution center for Common Ground Farm is located in the smaller red barn on the grounds of Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center. Distribution can be reached by car using either of the two entrances to Stony Kill but is located nearer the southern entrance.
Sign-in each week when you arrive. You have made a commitment to pick up your share on ONE of the following workdays for the duration of the farm season: Tuesday 4–7 pm OR Friday 4–7 pm (If you chose the Saturday Boxed Pick-Up option, your share will be in the walk-in cooler from 9 am - 12 noon; if you chose the Tuesday Boxed Pick-Up in Cold Spring option, we will send you location details). You must come the same day every week as the farmers must provide a fair share of the weekly harvest to everyone and they do this by picking for the number of share members that are signed up for each day.
If you can’t pick up your share, send another member, friend, or neighbor to pick up for you; try and switch days with another member; leave your share at the farm and we’ll donate it to the local food bank.
SELECTION OF PRODUCE
Produce will be displayed and identified in the style of a farmers market. There will be signs to indicate limits of number or weight for produce. Scales will be available for you to weigh out your share. You do not have to take the full amount; excess will be donated to a local food bank. The produce has been rinsed, but please wash your produce again before using it!
BAGGING YOUR SHARE
We STRONGLY encourage you to bring your own bag, canvas tote, basket or box. We cannot promise that there will always be bags available on site for your use.
There will be experienced members on-hand at the first distribution to help answer your questions.
