Planning for 2012 is well under way. As many of you know, much of our spending occurs over the winter months in preparation for our first Spring planting. By paying for your 2012 shares now, our farmers are able to purchase seeds, make off-season repairs to equipment, and plot out soil amendments necessary for a bountiful harvest. We are currently assessing where we need to focus to make sure we alleviate any burdens that our farmers faced this past year. We are addressing the areas that we can fix, so that we can face the unexpected problems that we can not foresee. Early deposits go a long way in making sure we are prepared.

2012 CSA Share Membership Options

• CSA Working Share - Pick-up at Stony Kill —$550: Working shares include $25 Common Ground Farm Membership and a commitment of working 10 hours for the farm (hours can be completed in a number of ways including field work, distribution, market set-up, joining a committee, etc) in exchange for one share of the harvest during the 2012 summer growing season.*
• CSA Non-Working Share - Pick-up at Stony Kill —$650: Non-Working shares include $25 Common Ground Farm Membership in exchange for one share of the harvest during the 2012 summer growing season.*
• Split Share Fee—$25; Membership fee for second member of your share. See About Splitting Shares and Paying Online below.
• Boxed Share Surcharge—$25:
  
  • Option 1: For members who wish to take part in the bounty but can not make it to distribution at Stony Kill on Tuesday or Friday, we offer a Boxed Share Pick-Up from our walk in cooler on Saturday mornings. Saturday Boxed Pick-Up at Stony Kill is a full season commitment and can not be changed once the season begins. If you choose Saturday Boxed Pick-Up, you can still choose a Working or Non-Working Share.
  • Option 2: If coming to Stony Kill is not convenient for you, we now offer Boxed Share Pick-Up in the Village of Cold Spring on Tuesday evenings between 4-6 PM. When you join, we will send you more details about the exact location. Tuesday Boxed Pick-Up in Cold Spring is a full season commitment and can not be changed once the season begins. If you choose Tuesday Boxed Pick-Up in Cold Spring, you can still choose a Working or Non-Working Share.

Those with a working share will help with the operation of the farm—harvest, distribution, field work or work committees (such as fundraising, work hours coordination, events, etc) for a minimum of 10 hours over the course of the season, though you are encouraged to volunteer more than the minimum as your schedule permits—we can always use the help.

All produce shares include a Basic Membership to Common Ground Farm.

About Splitting Shares and Paying Online

If you wish to split your share with another household and pay online, we need to know who your share split will be with and also make sure both parties have a basic membership. Please complete the Join Online form for both households. Here’s how:

1. Enter the contact and phone for the first household and select your membership type and Distribution Day. (Both households must have the same distribution day. ) Click Pay Now button to go to Paypal Checkout.

2. At Paypal checkout, click on  Splitting a Share? “Add” (this should appear below your contact information on the checkout screen - see example below). Enter the name of the second household.

3. Complete Join Online form for the second household. Select $25 basic membership. Click on Pay Now. At Paypal checkout, enter the first household name and mailing address in the 'Splitting a Share?' field. Select non-produce membership for the Distribution Day. Now both households are “linked” and both have a basic membership.

A FEW NOTES

Distribution at Stony Kill is on Tuesdays or Fridays from 4 PM – 7 PM. Boxed Saturday Pick-Up will be available from 9 AM- Noon. Boxed Tuesday Pick-Up in Cold Spring will be available from 4 PM - 6 PM. Members must choose one day and can not change once the season begins. Members must make arrangements with the other party if you wish to split a share. Common Ground Farm is not responsible for pairing up share partners or any arrangements that are made in conjunction with picking up your shares each week. If in the event you can not find a share partner on your own, please contact us to put you on a list. We will put members in touch with each other to make final arrangements.

* The growing season for Common Ground Farm typically lasts for 20-22 weeks, beginning around the first week of June and going through most of October. Share sizes will vary from week to week depending on the weather and the growing conditions.

As a produce shareholder, I understand the risks and benefits of growing our own produce and that there is no guarantee of the exact amount to be received each week. If I am a working member, I understand that it is my responsibility to complete 10 work hours over the course of the 2012 season.
