Using a rain barrel can help save money on water bills, conserve water, and manage stormwater runoff. At this hands-on workshop, we will provide a 55-gallon food-grade plastic barrel and all the materials you need to build your own!

There is a $45 fee and spaces are limited. Please RSVP by contacting Angela at acs26@cornell.edu or (845) 677-8223, extension 114.

What uses the most energy in our homes? Learn to calculate how much energy you are using and which appliances consume the most energy. We will learn how to use energy meters to measure power consumption and learn about choices we have and changes we can make to both lower our energy bill and cut our carbon footprint.

Participants will learn where to purchase their own energy meter or can choose to borrow one through Common Ground Farm so that they can test home appliances currently used and decide how best to lower energy consumption in the home. Please bring your most current electric bill and/or natural gas bill to this workshop so we can learn how to read your bill and understand all those mysterious charges.
