An Important Message from the Board

Dear Members,

One of the great beauties of CSAs is that they exist to share both in the trials and successes of a growing season, uniting communities for the good of the land and the people it feeds. As members of Common Ground Farm, you are living proof that this is the most precious model for both social and physical sustenance. Through crop disease, soil fertility problems, natural disasters, and four-legged competitors for our food, you have rallied with us to actively respond to the challenges we have faced. We are immensely grateful to you for coming together to support Common Ground in so many different ways, from bidding at our recent fundraising auction to building fences and spreading compost.

While the support of our membership has been overwhelming, and allowed us to finish off the season on a high note, all of the recent adversity has had a great impact of the future health of the organization.  In an effort to do what is best under these challenging circumstances, we have decided to restructure the organization.  Farmer Tim Heuer will now serve in the newly created position of Director of Farming, working closely with Education Director Sember Weinman and our office administrator. An unfortunate result of this restructuring is that we will no longer have an executive director, and therefore, Lisa Jessup -- who has served admirably over a number of years -- will no longer hold that role at the farm.

We will keep you apprised as we settle into this new structure. We see the best growing years ahead, and thank you again for all of your support. You are the real breath and life of this organization, and have helped us to ensure that the farmers and educators remain on their feet through it all.

With gratitude and respect,

Common Ground Farm Board of Directors
