Common Ground Farm

Common Ground Farm is a farm project located on 9 acres leased from Stony Kill Environmental Center, in the Town of Wappingers Falls, NY, and is dedicated to food access, food justice, and educating people of all ages about healthy food and agriculture that is ecologically sound. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation registered with the State of New York.

History

The farm was born in the Autumn of 2001 out of the vision and hard work of a small group of people who desired to start a farm project in southern Dutchess County, New York. They chose the name, incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation and became the first Board of Directors. A five acre plot of land was leased from Stony Kill Environmental Education Center, a gifted grower accepted their job offer and the farm was on its way to its inaugural season in the Spring of 2002. The farm ended its first season with approximately 60 share member families in the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and a successful launch of several educational programs including workshops, farm tours and talks. The membership continued to grow through the next few years, as did the farm's educational and outreach programs. In 2006 the organization expanded it's leased acreage to nine acres and had over 160 member families participate in the CSA program. In 2013 the organization made the decision to stop offering a CSA and the Farm is now focused fully on it's non-profit food access and education programs.
