Farmer Training Program

Through our Farmer Training Program we train youth first to grow organically, and then to work in and around the region in order to gain access for land stewardship. With the average age of farmers near 59 years old, the profession is literally dying. Limiting the preservation of farming to a skill passed on amongst family is risky and as a community farm it is imperative that we expose more youth to farming as a viable profession and provide opportunities for young people interested in farming to learn alongside an experienced grower. We provide several apprenticeships and we have worked in cooperation with local farmers to create a Mid-Hudson Valley CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training).
