Farm Camp

At Farm Camp, kids learn through collaboration, exploration, imagination, discovery, and creation. Children engage directly with farmland and the natural world and make their own culinary, scientific, and artistic creations with their own hands. Campers spend time in the garden, at the pond, in the field, in the barn, and along our nature trails. Kids develop new skills, make new friends, and grow an appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the natural environment within which we live.

My kids had a great experience. They loved the mix of activities, the staff, being outside, etc.

She definitely feels very connected to Common Ground Farm and being a farmer after 3 years of camp. She is confident about how the farm works and loves explaining things to family members. I think Farm Camp is such a special thing that our kids are lucky to experience.

She eats SO MANY THINGS at farm camp that she would never try at home. And she likes to cook the recipes from camp at home. It's so awesome.

My son learned a lot, got really dirty, and had a lot of fun.

Our camp instructors develop plans for the morning sessions based on the weekly themes, using a variety of methods for exploration. Our campers dig into each week’s themes through direct engagement, scaffolded to their age level--we cook, we build, we make art, we experiment, we move our bodies, we play games, and we get really dirty!

In the afternoons we offer Campers’ Choice, where children choose from several options that may include sprinkler time, nature hikes, field games, pond time, cooking, visits with special guests and art projects.

This year, we will host a celebration from 2:30 to 3:00 pm each Friday. We will have creations from our week together on display or to sample. Families are encouraged to join us!

Each group is limited to 12 children and will be led by an instructor and a counselor. Children bring a lunch and snack. Campers are grouped by age: 3 and 4 year olds, 5 and 6 year olds, 7 to 8 year olds, and 9 to 12 year olds. All children must be fully bathroom-trained and bathroom-independent to attend Farm Camp.
